Hi,
first we need more data:

which OS are U using ?

Are U trying to convert to a "lower quality format" ?

If yes,DVD to which format (avi,mp4,mkv...) ?

If U only want to RIP a DVD try it with DVD Shrink, its a very good tool for DVD's and its free.

More about here:

Try ConvertXtoDvd, it does it all, and for most files, AVI, MP4, MKV etc I have been using it for years.
Very simple to use and there is no need to 'shrink' the file first.
You should be able to rip a copy and make sure you follow the installation notes.
cheers!

Good question, maybe the files he's trying to copy have audio issues and not the actual program?

Thanks for responding - I wasn't sure anyone was around with the experience - I know I've just started ripping things myself.

OS: Win7 x64 w SP1
Software: CloneDVD Mobile v1610

When I rip one episode from a 6-episode DVD (3-passes), the ripping aborts around half way through. If I view the partial rip file, the video seems fine but there's no audio. This seems to match up with the log data, whisch complains about the audio pipe being empty before the video pipe is.

Detailed log data: (Many duplicate lines deleted)

DEBUG: Feeding ffmpeg.exe with 'ffmpeg.exe -i - -v 9 -xerror -pass 1 -passlogfile "F:/TV/mencmpass4576" -threads 6 -f mp4 -metadata title="DVDVolume" -r 25 -vcodec libx264 -vb 750000 -vglobal 1 -coder ac -acodec libfaac -ac 2 -ab 128000 -s 640x480 -aspect 4:3 -deinterlace -level 0 -bf 0 -refs 5 -encoder_cfg level=3|nocabac|keyint=240|min-keyint=24|ref=3|mixed-refs|bframes=0|subme=2|no-ssim|no-psnr|me=umh|trellis=2|partitions=p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8|filter=-1,-1 -y "F:\TV\Test-1.mp4"'.

Thanks for the replies - in brief I'm trying to rip shows FROM DVD to mp4 or similar formats for use on a portable media player (Archos 5IT in this case).

As mentioned in my previous post, the process aborts complaining that the audio stops befor ethe video. I've received this message on a few DVDs, so I'm not sure what's happening - I don't think it's the disks.

Thanks,

SimonT

For this art of target files on W7 I recomend DVDRanger more about here:

Code:
http://www.dvd2hd.com/

I have make some tests and it works fine without to many setups but Im "old school" and using autogordian on XP for converting. So try it and then decide will U but such app or find some craked version (DVDRanger).

All that's beyond my knowledge, sorry Sad To convert files to portable, I use DVDFab & it works great as it has all the options for whichever portable media you may be using. I haven't needed to convert (or shrink) any files to do so.
I would be trying a few different software programs (grab trials first) and see what's best for you. There are plenty of cracked programs out there to choose from, just remember not to update any of them Smile Also, you could buy the program and cut out any installation and update issues
Good luck Smile
